Off the Beaten Path Newsletter March - April, 2009
Greetings from your friends at Off the Beaten Path!
Sadly we enter 2009 in the midst of a lot of bad news, dominated by the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. We see all around us evidence of these hard times.
Despite all this pain, we at Off the Beaten Path are optimistic. Why? Because over the past few months, many of you found the new Off the Beaten Path on 9th, told us that we've done something right in creating our new home, and that you like this new space for Good Books, Good Coffee, Good Friends. We can't thank you enough for your loyalty and your business.
But we aren't resting on these compliments. We remain convinced that reading great books is central to learning, creativity, combating ignorance and apathy, and building community; and that these are core to our world's economic and political recovery. We continue to try to make Off the Beaten Path the place you want to visit when you're wondering "what I should read next."
What are we doing?
Our staff is constantly reading, adding to their "OTBP Picks," writing personal reviews of what they read. We continue to make improvements to our new location on 9th Street – to create the place for Good Books, Good Coffee, Good Friends. And this month we launched our new presence on the web, with the slogan:
"If you like us when you're here, shop with us when you're not"
At www.steamboatbooks.com you'll find:
We invite you to join the on-line Off the Beaten Path community. Please share your reading experiences, add your comments, and help us share the wonderful experience of reading.
And when you buy online, buy from us. With your help, we'll be here when you next wander Off the Beaten Path!
